Communion

by Mel Donalson

In the 1980's in the city of Riverside, California, Tony Marcos is a fragile teen with unusual desires. Forced to run away, he. begins a life of survival that ultimately brings him to the streets of Hollywood. Living in an environment where concrete and flesh collide, where fantasies and yearnings coincide, Tony navigates the streets with the help of a family he creates. A family of friends- Irish, Black, Chicana, Jewish, Armenian, Samoan, Vietnamese. Some in their teens, some in their 30s, some in their 40s- but all seeking the solid ground of purpose and love. With this network of relationships, Tony struggles to unite his desires with his dreams, a personal communion that can bring him the salvation of selfhood.
