Tia Chucha's Book Club

The Social Justice Book Club was established in 2018 in hopes to engage community members in literature that reflects their stories and challenges systems of oppression in a safe environment. The book club came about in the way that many of our programs have. At Tia Chucha’s, residents and participants often propose, help create and facilitate programs based on community interests and needs. The Social Justice Book Club meets once a month to discuss a book chosen collectively by current members. Our book selections have included genres in history, poetry, fiction, memoirs, mental health, feminism, and more.

Currently, the Social Justice Book Club meets on the third Saturday of every month, virtually through the online communications system Zoom and has connected many people from across the United States to engage in conversations that matter.
